A 44-year-old man from Veimandu island of Thaa atoll has been arrested for sexually assaulting a minor.

The Maldives Police Service’s media official said that the man was arrested for assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

He was arrested after residents of the island reported him to the police.

Thaa atoll’s magistrate court has remanded the man for a period of 15 days.
