With 36 new recoveries reported on Sunday, Maldives Covid-19 recoveries have surpassed 1,900.
Maldives confirmed 19 additional cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic, as well as 36 additional recoveries.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) via its nightly publication of the latest Covid-19 statistics, revealed that the new cases reported on Sunday include:
- Seven Maldivians
- 10 Bangladeshi nationals
- Two Indian nationals.
This pushes the country’s Covid-19 case count to 2,324 and the number of recoveries to 1,911.
Currently, the country has 400 active cases and the pandemic has taken eight lives.
Further, HPA revealed that 311 individuals remain isolated, with 226 in quarantine facilities, established across the scatter of islands.
The pandemic initially surfaced from the Maldives on March 7, and with the detection of a community transmission on April 15, authorities imposed a full lockdown.
The government began relaxing measures and implementing the lockdown ease plan, in phases, on May 29 and the plan is currently in phase two.
