Parliament’s government oversight committee has passed to approve Mohamed Aslam as the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

Aslam was appointed to the post last week, after a decision to reorganize the government. This decision came following the resignation of Aminath Athifa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

As such, the president dissolved the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and shifted its responsibilities to the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, forming the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

While seven lawmakers took part in Monday’s meeting of the government oversight committee, six voted in favour of Aslam’s appointment to the post.

Aslam was already a serving cabinet member, as the Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure, prior to the recent reorganization of government.
