Authorities have said that 199 frontline workers have tested positive

23 police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19, while over 200 are under isolation.

Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed, revealed this on Sunday adding that all 23 are doing well.

Noting that there are 293 officers and staff under “managed” isolation, the commissioner stressed that the institution is “taking enhanced measures” as they understand that the work to curb the spread of the virus is a “tremendous challenge”.

He also highlighted the importance of the police’s workforce “not depleting”, and praised the hard work of police personal in the Covid-19 response efforts.

Authorities have revealed that a number of frontline workers have tested positive for the virus. As such, the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Saturday revealed that this number has reached 199.

This also includes officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). As per the latest details in this, 40 army officers have tested positive for the virus with more under isolation at its headquarters in the capital.

Despite this, Defence Minister Mariya Didi assured that there are enough officers to ensure the safety of the Maldivian people.
