Two more Covid-19 cases have been confirmed from Thulusdhoo island in Kaafu atoll.
President of the island’s council, Ahmed Anees, confirmed this in an interview on RaajjeTV’s Covid-19 coverage, adding that the two are foreigners.
Further, he said that they are contacts of the three migrant workers that previously tested positive for the virus from the island.
Anees said that work is underway to take them to an isolation facility.
Noting that the house has been quarantined since April 21, the council president said that 15 people reside in the same room as the two that tested positive.
While they are to have tested positive on Friday, it is not yet clear whether these are new cases or among the 86 cases announced earlier in the day.
The cases announced include 67 Bangladeshis, 14 Maldivians, three Indians and one each from Sri Lanka and Nepal.
With the two new cases, a total of five people have tested positive for Covid-19 from Thulusdhoo.
The island has been on monitoring since April 21.
