Doctors from outlying atolls are currently in the capital, for Covid-19 training.
Covid-19 taskforce’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed this during Saturday night’s press conference.
He said that the doctors are in Malé for training purposes, as well as experience related to Covid-19 treatment.
And when they return to the respective atolls in which they are stationed at, the doctors will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period.
While this could lead to issues, Mabrook assured that health services at the areas will not be halted and that arrangements will be made send other doctors if others are not available to treat patients during this period.
Speaking further on this, the spokesperson said that the biggest hindrance currently is the lack of healthcare professionals.
While a Covid-19 community transmission was detected in the capital on April 15, cases have since been confirmed in islands in the northern atolls.
