Authorities have revealed that it is now possible to do 350 Covid-19 tests per day.
Spokesperson of the government’s Covid-19 taskforce, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed this at Friday night’s press conference, adding that tests are being conducted in two laboratories now.
Noting that between 250 to 350 tests can be done at the start-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Mabrook said that the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing machine at the police’s forensic laboratory is now being used for Covid-19 testing as well.
He said that the health ministry gave the approval to use the PCR machine on Thursday, and that 50 samples will be tested using this machine per day.
Following this, Mabrook said that “350 tests can be conducted per day”.
Mabrook also revealed that work is underway to bring an additional testing machine to IGMH.
