Eight more people have tested positive for Covid-19 from the capital, bringing the city’s total to 40.
The cases announced on Monday include six Maldivians and two Bangladeshi citizens.
While some of these cases were linked to previously confirmed cases, some are yet to be confirmed.
Cases announced on Monday:
- Case 53: Maldivian, delivery staff at BHM, that tested positive upon presenting to flu clinic
- Case 54: Maldivian that tested positive after presenting to flu clinic; started exhibiting symptoms on April 18
- Case 55: Maldivian, a contact of Patient 29, tested despite no symptoms while in isolation
- Case 56: Maldivian, contact of Patient 34
- Case 57: Maldivian, contact of Patient 29
- Case 58: Maldivian, tested positive upon presenting to flu clinic, started showing symptoms on April 19
- Case 59: Bangladeshi national employed at Ihsaan shop
- Case 60: Bangladeshi national employed at Ihsaan shop
Authorities are working to establish links of the positive cases from flu clinics, as well to transfer these individuals to an isolation facility.
Contact tracing is underway.
With the Covid-19 cases announced on Monday, the country’s total count is 60.
