Maldives Police Service (MPS) has made two arrests in connection to a robbery at an electronics store in Maldives capital, Malé City, Biz Mobile.

The case lodged at the police states that items worth over MVR 75,000 was stolen in the break-in, between 23 – 30 March.

Following this, officers launched a search operation through which they confiscated some of the stolen products, worth over MVR 62,000. These items have been handed over to the owners now and police continue to search for the remaining stolen products.

A 36-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in connection to the break-in on 30 March and another man, 39 years of age, was arrested the next day.

Both suspects had confessed to the crime and out of the two, the latter was released from Maldives Correctional Service (MCS)'s custody for treatment at the time of the theft. Hence, he has now been handed over to the authority as he had 'misused this opportunity.'

The case is under further investigation.
