A Maldivian who had attempted to join the Syrian civil conflict had been arrested from Turkey.

A tweet by the Police stated that an individual had been arrested and brought to Malé on suspicion that he had attempted to join in the Syrian Civil Conflict. The Police said that they were investigating the case and was collaborating with international partners to limit such incidents.

International organizations have remarked on the increase of number of Maldivians leaving to join the Syrian conflict. While the Government denies this, claiming that only 50 Maldivians had left the country.
