Restrictions on two resort islands have been lifted, after samples of suspect patients came back negative for coronavirus.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) confirmed this via Twitter on Wednesday.
A Maldivian was transferred to the isolation center after showing Covid-19 like symptoms on Tuesday morning. The results came back negative on Wednesday.
One and Only Reethi Rah was put on temporary lockdown on Tuesday evening, after a foreign child exhibited symptoms. The child tested negative for Covid-19.
Restrictions on both islands have since been lifted, after having completed the contact tracing process as well.
While these results came back negative, Maldives confirmed its seventh and eighth cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday and a third island has been placed under lockdown for an undetermined period.
Temporary restrictive measures were initiated in Kuramathi Island Resort on Tuesday afternoon, and the samples of two foreigners came back positive on Wednesday.
Authorities have not disclosed the results of the local that was tested on Tuesday. This person was tested as a precautionary measure after coming into contact with a suspected case.
Four of the confirmed cases are from Kuredu Island Resort including the first two, the other two are from Sandies Bathala Maldives where two additional people were quarantined on Tuesday after showing symptoms. They are to have had “close contact” with a confirmed case.
