Covid-19: Total number of confirmed cases in Maldives rises to 8

Two additional persons have tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19), says the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

According to HPA, samples taken from two foreigners from Kuramathi Island Resort in Alif Alif Atoll) have tested positive for Covid-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Maldives up to eight.

HPA further states that temporary restrictive measures have been placed on the island, as per procedures, as authorities conduct contact tracing.

As such, the island is under lockdown and no one is allowed to enter or leave without permission.
