Hulhumalé beach volleyball court now “an international standard facility"

The minister hopes that the facility “will help for the improvement and development of beach volley in the Maldives"

This is the first ever such court in the country

Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced this via Twitter on Wednesday morning

The beach volleyball court in the capital’s suburban district Hulhumalé has been modified to “an international standard facility.”

Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced this via Twitter on Wednesday morning, emphasizing that this is the first ever such court in the country.

Mahloof added that he hopes that the facility “will help for the improvement and development of beach volley in the Maldives."

While an international standard beach volleyball facility has been established in Hulhumalé, it is one sport where Maldivian athletes have been making great strides recently.

As such, the men’s beach volley team won silver at last year’s Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).

While the beach volleyball courts in the capital were closed during the previous administration, it has recently been reopened and national team practices are carried out there.
