Guraidhoo island council has appealed for more classrooms at Kaafu Guraidhoo school.
Councillors from Guraidhoo Island of Kaafu atoll made the appeal during a meeting with Vice President Faisal Naseem held on Thursday afternoon at the President’s office.
During the meeting with the vice-president, the Councillors shared the concerns of their constituents regarding ongoing and upcoming developmental projects at the island.
While discussions between the Councillors and the vice-president primarily focused on difficulties facing the island's waste management system, the Councillors also shared concerns raised by their constituents about the upcoming land reclamation project at the island. They additionally appealed for a project to increase the number of classrooms at Guraidhoo School.
Highlighting the responsibilities granted to island councils following the amendment to the Decentralization Act, Vice-President Naseem encouraged the Councillors to continue consulting and working closely with their constituents.
The Vice-President further assured the council members that the administration will find appropriate resolutions to the issues raised by the Councillors, after holding discussions with relevant line ministries.
