Details of the man that killed 59-year-old Gasim Hassan has been revealed.
The driver was stabbed to death on the night of 4th December; he was found lying face-down in a puddle of blood and pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A suspect- Ahmed Mohamed native to Hinnavaru island of Lhaviyani atoll- was arrested on Thursday, and he is to have confessed to the crime the next day. He was given a 15-day remand.
As per the Criminal Court order, Ahmed Mohamed not only confessed to the crime but also recounted how he did it.
Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed revealed his arrest and confession via Twitter, and stressed that forensic evidence “has been the key to solving the case.”
Officers had recovered the murder weapon and the attacker’s clothes in the investigation, which led to the retrieval of crucial evidence from the murder scene including fingerprints and DNA.
