The police have arrested a 31-year-old taxi driver
Police have arrested a taxi driver who threatened his passenger.
While several reports of such incidents, where a taxi driver had reportedly threatened his passenger and stolen their belongings, have surfaced on social networking platforms; officers made the arrest on Tuesday.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) said that they have a 31-year-old in custody in relation to the case.
The MPS said they are currently investigating the case.
On Monday, the police said they have confirmed two accounts of mugging in capital city Malé; a taxi driver that threatened his passenger and a separate street mugging.
