The People’s Majlis has passed the committee report on the 2012 murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali, seeking action against those highlighted in the report by the presidential commission on murders and disappearances.

Parliament’s committee on national security services passed the report last week, and the report was publicized last Thursday.

The report seeks to take action against those found to be involved in the murder, as well as those that are to have hid facts about the murder.

The committee’s report comprised of 11 recommendations, including to take immediate action against those found to have been involved in the murder. This includes Hussain Humaam, Ali Shan, as well as the minor that is to have taken part and those that are to have stationed themselves at Crusty’s Restaurant near Henveiru Funvilu, those that are to have been at the staircase of Funvilu on the night of the murder.

It also seeks to take action against those groups noted as hardline and extremist in the commission report, as well as those hid facts.

The report also mentions 36 individuals who were found to have hidden details in the murder, which includes former Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

Dr. Afrasheem Ali was stabbed to death in the stairwell of his house in the capital city, in October 2012.
