President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended his condolences to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on behalf of himself and the Maldivian people, following the death of his brother, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In his message, the President recognized the contributions of Sheikh Zayed to the development of the UAE and his role in the hearts of the Emirati people.
The UAE president's brother, Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was an Emirati politician and the President’s Representative. He passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Following the death of his brother, President Sheikh Khalifa announced a official nation-wide three day mourning period to be observed where flags will be flown at half-mast.
