A man arrested for 'calling for violence against the public in a manner that would create fear' has been issued a 15-day remand.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on October 12. Reports state that he is also suspected of promoting and supporting known terrorist organizations on social media.

Police on Tuesday said that the court has since remanded him for 15 days.

This was the first suspect arrested under the newly amended Anti-Terorrism Law, which gives police a wide range of powers.

Under these amendments, ratified on October 10, the act of supporting a terrorist organization and promoting such organizations is also classified as a crime.
