Maldives Immigration has caught two more individuals attempting to enter the country with counterfeit passports.

Immigration said that a foreign woman who was attempting to enter Maldives using a counterfeit passport was stopped at Velana International Airport, along with a foreign man assisting her.

It did not disclose the nationalities of the two.

Back in September, the department had announced that 11 individuals had attempted to enter the country using forged passports. There have been other such cases since then as well.

Individuals caught is such acts are deported to their countries, in accordance with the country’s international conventions.
