President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will attend a friendly volleyball match between Maldives and Sri Lanka, on Tuesday.

Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof announced this via Twitter on Saturday, adding that this shows his commitment to the development of sports in the country.

Mahloof also tweeted that the United Nations’ Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, Jayathma Wickramanayake will also attend the friendly match between the men’s national teams.

The match is to being at 8pm on Tuesday, and will be held at the Youth Center indoor hall.

The Maldives men’s national volleyball team trained in Serbia ahead of July’s Indian Ocean Island Games 2019.

The training opportunity was secured by the sports minister, during a visit to the European nation this June.

The team had the opportunity to train at one of the finest facilities in the world with Europe’s top coaches.

The men’s team lost all three matches in IOIG 2019.
