Health workers need to have the skills to report information, says Health Minister Abdulla Ameen.

Minister Ameen said this at the event at Hotel Jen to inaugurate the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and District Health Information System programmes.

At the event, the Minister said that the information at various health centers in Maldives need to be recorded according to international standards.

Minister Ameen said that keeping records will ease the burden on the health sector and improve human resources, services, and programmes, as well as making it easier for patients to obtain information.

Also at the event, Dr Arvind Mathur, the World Health Organization Representative to Maldives, praised the government for its work to improve the health sector in the country and said that it was important to have skilled workers in the health sector.

Health workers in government and the private sector will be joining the training programmes, which will conclude in July 28.
