Abdulla Jabir has become the first MP to be ejected from a sitting in the 19th parliament.
Speaker Mohamed Nasheed ejected the Kaashidhoo representative at Wednesday’s sitting.
Jabir had interrupted the Speaker while he was reading out the parliament’s agenda to ask if Nasheed had received the "key to the state funds" after he became the speaker.
Nasheed advised Jabir to obey proper conduct and warned that he might be penalized, which resulted in Jabir causing a commotion at the sitting. Nasheed then requested Jabir to leave the sitting.
While Jabir has become the first MP to be ejected from a sitting in the current tenure, many MPs were also ejected from the last two.
