The two individuals arrested for harbouring 14-year-old Shaim Abdulla have been remanded.
The first suspect, a 46-year-old-woman, was arrested on 4th July and has been remanded by six days.
The second suspect was arrested on Friday. The 23-year-old man was issued a 15-day remand.
Shaim was under state care, when he went missing on June 18. He was found on July 1, from a house in the capital. Police said that officers had to force their way into the house, during the search for Shaim.
The gender ministry was first made aware of Shaim’s case in 2009.
Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef was summoned to the parliament committee on human rights and gender, for disclosing sensitive details in the case. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was also briefed over the matter, during last week’s cabinet meeting.
