Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has concluded the 2nd Practicum of the Defence Doctrine & Reform Initiative.
The 2nd Practicum had proceeded with the instruction of Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal and focused on dictating policies to improve the Maldives military’s operations and administration.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Defence Minister Mariya Didi said that it was important to have clearly written and publicized policies, since otherwise it would create fear and suspicion in the people.
She also said that the policies should be accepted by the younger generation and should be established after consulting with the public.
Also at the ceremony, Defence Chief Shamaal higlighted the importance of having a defence doctrine in order to provide professional services that citizens approve. He also thanked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on behalf of all officers for his work to develop the Maldives military.
The 2nd Practicum of the Defence Doctrine & Reform Initiative was held from June 17 to 23.
