Qasim is a hero, steadfast in reformation initiative: Maumoon faction

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) faction loyal to former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has praised Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim, calling his commitment to the nation as exemplary.

The Party released the statement in response to the speech made by Qasim in Sunday night’s rally held to launch the Party’s candidates for the Local Council Elections. The statement said that Qasim’s speech was undeniable proof that Qasim was still committed and steadfast in bringing reform into the nation. It also noted that Qasim had faced many challenges in the past and continues to do so, but had not refrained from his determination and commitment to the nation.

Noting Qasim’s many contributions to the nation’s economy, education and infrastructure development, Maumoon faction said that Qasim had always acted in national interest and prioritized on public gain.

The statement further said that Qasim had been instrumental in bringing the current Government to power. However, it said that presently the Government was using their powers to hinder Qasim’s businesses, adding that it was deeply saddening.

Praising Qasim’s commitment, determination, will, courage and continued work to change the nation, Maumoon faction said that the united effort to transform the nation will become a success.
