The planning ministry has stated that Artificial Beach will be opened to the public within two weeks.

A ministry official told RaajjeMV said that development work is being carried out at a fast pace and will be done within two weeks.

The official said they are currently working on planting more trees and placing more benches. Despite the official’s statement, much of the work at Artificial Beach looks to be unfinished.

The official said that the delay in bringing in the necessary equipment was the reason why the development work extended past the deadline.

The swimming area of Artificial Beach has been developed and re-opened.

MTCC was given the Artificial Beach project for MVR 13 million, to develop the area as a park, similar to Rasfannu Beach. The project began on January 14 but MTCC failed to re-open Artificial Beach during Ramadan as planned.
