State-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has refuted the corruption claims made by Mohamed Shaafee, the former state minister of communications, science and technology.

State Minister Shaafee resigned after expressing concern that the current administration is proceeding with a software project at IGMH initiated by the previous administration of President Abdulla Yameen, which he claimed is marred by corruption.

In a press release, IGMH stated that the project to establish a hospital management system will proceed transparently and through an open bidding process, according to the rules and regulations with the help of the communications ministry and other relevant authorities.

IGMH stated that it discussed the project with the President’s Office from June 12 to 19 and has scheduled similar meetings for the future.

IGMH added that the scope of the software project is based on discussions made by the hospital management, doctors and relevant authorities.
