Maldivian delegation’s visit gives confidence, says Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
He made the statement to RaajjeTV, during a special banquet held for the delegation at his official residence -Temple Tree- on Saturday night.
While the high-level Maldivian delegation is on a three-day visit to the neighboring, to show solidarity following the Easter bombing attack, PM Ranil said that this “is a brilliant strategy.”
The Maldivian delegation, led by Vice President Faisal Naseem, departed to Sri Lanka on Friday.
VP Naseem and the speaker gave a press conference in Colombo on Saturday afternoon, and emphasized that the Maldives will “always stand by Sri Lanka and its people.”
In addition to Nasheed and the vice president, the over 100-member delegation comprises of parliamentarians, cabinet members and other government officials.
