A road accident on the Sinamale Bridge highway has left the road dividers heavily damaged.
Maldives Police Service revealed that they had received the report of the accident at around 10:15 am on Tuesday.
While the road dividers have been left destroyed, one of the cars involved in the accident had fled the scene.
Police revealed that they have begun searching for the vehicle.
Media official at the MPS revealed that they have begun investigations into the case and that the accidents occurred between two cars.
The road dividers on the bridge and highway have been damaged on previous occasions as well. Some of the spots where the accidents occurred are yet to be reconstructed.
While road accidents have been on the rise of late, there have been several road safety campaigns through social media platforms.
