President Abdulla Yameen has sent a condolence message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan, following the deadly attacks the country's three major cities; Parachinar, Quetta and Karachi.

In the message sent on Sunday, President Yameen noted that he was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the series of attacks in the three cities "causing tragic loss of lives and grievous injury to many".

"The government and the people of the Maldives strongly condemn these cowardly attacks of terror in the strongest terms and express our firm resolve to stand together with the government and people of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," reads the message.

Over 85 people were killed in the three separate attacks across Pakistan on Friday, with authorities expecting the toll to rise due to the number of people in critical condition.

The first suicide bombing was at a police checkpoint in Quetta in Balochistan province, killing 14 people including 10 police officers; Jamaat-ur-Ahrar has claimed responsibilty. The second attack was on Parachinar's Toori Bazar during rush-hour, wounding over 200 people; Sunni armed group Lashkar-e-Jhangyi claimed responsibility for the attack. In the third incident, armed in the port city of Karachi attacked police officers at a roadside restaurant, killing for before fleeing.

Following the attacks, PM Nawaz Sharif has ordered to tighten security across the country, highlighting that "terrorists are attacking soft targets and no Muslim can ever imagine to commit such horrific act".

"Such acts of terrorism will be dealt with full power of the state," he added.
