Broadcom’s deputy chief on leave with pay for six months

Broadcom has requested the president and the parliament to penalize Sofwan

Sofwan has not been seen at work since the presidential election, except for two or three days

Broadcasting Commission’s Vice President Ismail Sofwan has been on leave with pay for six months.

A senior Broadcom official told RaajjeMV that Sofwan has not been seen at work since the presidential election, except for two or three days.

RaajjeMV understands that Sofwan went on leave right after the presidential election and is currently in Malaysia.

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that Broadcom does not have any regulation to reduce any amount from a commission member’s MVR 40,000 salary for absent days.

Broadcom’s regulation states that any member who misses three consecutive meetings without a valid excuse will be dismissed. Broadcom has requested the president and the parliament to penalize Sofwan, who has not disclosed any reason for being absent from work.

RaajjeMV has been unable to contact Sofwan for a comment.
