Fazeel given 10-day remand
Fazeel is among the three arrested in connection to the abduction of a 44-yo man in Gan island

Criminal Court has issued a 10-day remand to Ibrahim Fazeel, arrested in connection to an abduction in Gan island of Laamu atoll.
While he was arrested while in hiding in Hulhumalé on Monday, police said that this was the third arrest in the case.
Police said that a 44-year-old man was abducted in Gan island on May 2. Noting that he was threatened at knifepoint and mugged, police said that the abductors had sought a ransom as well.
As such, two of them were arrested near the money drop zone, Gan Province Office, on May 3. Police said that one of them had attempted to flee on a motorcycle, but that he was apprehended later.
One of them was issued a 15-day remand, while the other is to be detained until the case closes.
Fazeel has also faced accusations following the disappearance of Aminath Shima Nafiz. He was the last person to see the 19-year-old.
On February 22, Shima was traveling on a dinghy with Fazeel when it overturned. He is to have placed her on top of the overturned dinghy before swimming to a nearby resort for help; however, she has been missing since.
Fazeel and two others were arrested in March, while trying to flee with Shima’s younger sister. They were released in April.
