No unpublicized details on Dr. Afrasheem’s death: MP Riyaz

There is no more unpublicized information on religious scholar Dr. Afrasheem Ali’s death, says former police commissioner Abdulla Riyaz.

MP Riyaz said this while speaking on a show on state TV PSM on Friday.

On the show, Riyaz said that all the information the police obtained in the case have been publicized and that he hopes the presidential commission on deaths and disappearances have received the case files.

He said that there was no need for him to personally go to the commission to give any information but that he is ready to assist in their investigation.

However, Riyaz has been criticized for earlier claiming that there was still more information on Afrasheem’s case that he would publicize and then later neglecting to follow through.

Afrasheem was stabbed to death in the stairwell of his house in Male’ in October 2012. While two were charged, Hussain Humaam was the only one convicted of his murder.
