Elections Commission (ECM) is to recount the invalid votes in Fonadhoo and Baarah constituencies.
Ibrahim Shujau had lost in Baarah constituency and Abdul Raheem had failed to get re-elected to the Fonadhoo seat in Saturday’s parliamentary election.
On Wednesday afternoon, ECM accepted their request to do a recount in these constituencies.
Abdul Raheem, the leader of opposition People’s National Congress (PNC), lost with a difference of 44 votes.
Ibrahim Shujau had also failed to get re-elected to the Baarah seat by losing with a difference of 42 votes.
Ibrahim Falah has also requested ECM to recount the votes in Inguraidhoo, after losing with a difference of 89 votes.
ECM has so far recounted votes in Maamigili and Maavah constituencies, which confirmed that the preliminary winners have secured their seats.
There is a total of 4,800 invalid votes in the parliamentary election.
