The Bangladeshi man, who was found dead in Fonadhoo island of Laamu atoll on Thursday, was allegedly murdered, the police has said. 

The police have said they found bruises and other signs of struggle on his person. 

The case is now a murder investigation, the police’s media official said. 

The 27-year-old male had reportedly been missing for two days before his body was found.  

An official from the Maldives Police Service said that the man goes by the name ‘Hassan’ullah’. 

His body was found in the trees near a recreational area in Baraasil ward of the island.
