An agreement has been signed with two companies, in order to plant water supply and sewerage systems in five islands.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure on Thursday afternoon.
Contracted were Azrova Private Limited to install water supply facilities in Nolhivaram island of Haa Dhaal atoll on a design and build basis, and Static Company to install water supply and sewerage facilities in four out the five islands on a design and build basis.
The four islands tasked to Static company are Uligamu island in Haa Alif atoll, Kanduhulhudhoo island in Gaaf Alif atoll, Kinbidhoo island in Thaa atoll and Kendhikulhudhoo island in Noonu atoll.

Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed signed on behalf of the Planning Ministry and Manager of Static Company, Ibrahim Shahudh signed on behalf of the company while Country Manager Hivaj Mahindra Madhushanka signed on behalf of Azrova.
While the project in Nolhivaram costs MVR 25 million from the state budget, the project in Uligamu costs MVR 36 million from the state budget. The projects in Kanduhulhudhoo and Kinbidhoo cost MVR 38 million and the project in Kendhikulhudhoo costs MVR 59 million from the state budget.
Under the initiative, the Ministry has planned to install water and sewerage systems in 17 different islands for which the agreements will be signed within the coming week.
