FDA recalls Taza bottled water, launches investigation

A shipment of Taza water has been recalled from stores over an issue with the product.

Island Beverage Maldives (IBM) had confirmed that the batch had been recalled over reports of foul smell and taste. Raajje TV had contacted IBM during the “Fashaairu” program regarding the issue and was given confirmation regarding the recall.

Batch numbers 1465 and 1466 were recalled. IBM said that they had begun the recall on Saturday and will provide replacement bottles for the defect batch.

IBM adds that further testing will reveal exactly what the issues were.

Speaking to Raajje.mv, an official of Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) said that they had already taken samples of water for testing. The official added that further details will be revealed when the testing was completed.

Bottled water is mostly used for drinking in majority of the households in Male’.
