Maldives Police Service (MPS) has on Saturday arrested two individuals in connection to a break-in in Hirilandhoo Island of Thaa atoll.

Broken into was a local shop and the robbers had taken several packs of cigarette, and cash.

Police media official stated that they had received the report of a break-in on Saturday night and conducted an operation in the island following which they had confiscated the stolen items along with the two individuals who had been involved in the robbery.

Arrested were a 25-year old and a 31-year-old. The 12 packs of cigarette were found in a storage compartment in the residence of the 31-year-old and the cash was found on him as well.

Veymandoo Magistrate Court has since remanded the two individuals by 10 days.
