Police has issued a search warrant for Mohamed Azmeer, three months after he was reported missing.
Noting that it is working to located the missing 25-year-old from Henbadhoo island of Noonu atoll, police said that the case is being investigated by its Noonu Manadhoo police station.
Azmeer’s father, Ibrahim Adam told RaajjeMV that the family had filed a missing person’s case three months ago.
Adam said that they believe that he had ‘fled’ after an incident on the island, adding that they have not had any contact with him since.
Noting that the family has reported him missing ‘a number of times, to three different police stations,’ Adam expressed concern over the delay in police responding to the case.
While Azmeer has a record of substance abuse, his father said that he ‘was forced into drug addiction.’
Azmeer is the eldest of five children.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has formed a commission into ‘deaths and disappearances,’ which is currently investigating 25 cases.
