Maldives’ northernmost atolls will experience rain and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours, the Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office) has said.
The MET Office issued the alert at 10:00am on Monday, which states that seas are expected to be choppy while moderate in the central atolls and slight in the southern atolls.
Winds in the northern and central atolls are expected to be gust at 10 to 20 miles per hour, and five to 13 miles per hour in the southern atolls.
Heavy rain in the southern Gaafu Dhaal atoll had damaged homes in Thinadhoo island last week; most outlying islands and the capital city are flat-lying and prone to flooding.
