Malé City has been experiencing severe sea surges, which occurred notably at around 4:00 pm on Wednesday, and slightly flooded road of the capital.

The Maldives Meteorological Services said that the capital will experience sea surges on Thursday evening as well.

Islands in Raa Atoll had also experienced sea surges, although not as severe as the capital, the service said.

The service said that most of the country would experience heavy rain fall in the next 24 hours.

It said that central atolls in particular would experience a few thunderstorms with surface winds that gust at up to 17 miles per hour.
