An expatriate at the harbor development site in Kanduhulhudhoo island of Gaafu Alif atoll has been fatally injured in an accident.

Ahmed Shaheem, president of the island’s local government council, said that the expatriate was an Indian national, and is a male roughly of the age 35.

Shaheem further said that the man had been employed by the state-run Maldives Transport and Contracting Company.

The incident occurred at about 8:45 AM on Thursday and the man passed away while receiving treatment, after having been hit by a vehicle at the site, at the island’s health center.

The police are investigating the accident.
