An expatriate worker was injured in an accident on the Hulhulé-Hulhumalé highway early Tuesday morning.

Police said that the accident occurred at around 6am, when a van traveling to Hulhumalé crashed into the fence on the side of the road after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The driver, an expatriate worker, is reported to have sustained serious injuries in the accident and was taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment immediately.

Noting that he had multiple fractures, Aasandha company that runs Hulhumalé Hospital informed that he has since been transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in capital Malé.
