Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ahmed Shiyam has met with President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The meeting took place at 11am on Monday, at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) headquarters.
Central-Hithadhoo Constituency MP, former head of MNDF’s Malé Area Command, Rtd. Brigadier General Ibrahim Didi and Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s legal director Hisaan Hussain accompanied Solih at the meeting.
The defence chief was accompanied by his deputy, Brigadier General Ahmed Shahid.
While the president-elect met with the defence chief on Monday, police’s acting commissioner Abdulla Nawaz paid him a courtesy call last week. Other such government officials that have met with Solih since his victory over incumbent President Abdulla Yameen on 23rd September include Governor Ahmed Naseer, as well as employees and senior officials of the Maldives Customs Service (MCS).
