Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that smoking will be banned in areas in which polling stations during Sunday's presidential election.
While the presidential election is three days away, HPA released on Thursday released a statement announcing the smokeban in areas where the voting procedure will proceed, adding that smoking anywhere nearby polling stations 'will be penalized accordingly'.
According to the agency, officials active during the voting process must be made cautious of this and take measures against whoever goes against it on the day of the election.
Ballot boxes for the presidential election on Sunday are to be placed in schools, colleges and universities across the nation.
While the presidential election, slated for upcoming Sunday, comprises of 262,135 eligible voters, the Elections Commission is to place 472 ballot boxes across the nation. The only two candidates vying for Presidency are candidate number one, incumbent President Abdulla Yameen, vying for re-election, along with his running mate Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and candidate number two, Joint Opposition coalition’s Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih along with his running mate representative in Parliament, Faisal Naseem.
