A civil service employee tasked with the responsibilities of the Gaa Alifu atoll council has been suspended, along with a senior employee.
Those suspended are, Mohamed Naseer Ali and the council's assistant director Mohamed Hassan. Both have been suspended until October 18.
They are suspended under the allegations of using state funds and resources during a campaign visit by the Joint Opposition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
A notice sent to them by the Civil Service Commission states that Naseer and Hassan have been suspended 'with pay' for a period of 30 months as the investigation continues.
While two officials at the Gaafu Alifu atoll have been suspended, its President Ahmed Fuad is currently under suspension as well.
Denying that the council had acted unlawfully, Fuad told RaajjeMV that the purpose of the continued suspensions is 'to carry out certain acts through the council'.
