Will draft a whistle-blower protection bill and send it for parliament approval
Bringing an end to acts of corruption is on of opposition coalition's main policies
Solih stressed on the fate of the BML employee who brought the MMPRC embezzlement scandal into the spotlight

Opposition coalition’s Presidential hopeful Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Monday pledged that a unity government led by his coalition will provide protection for state employees who disclose information about illegal acts of corruption in the country.

Speaking at a press conference hosted by the opposition coalition on Monday, Solih stated that bringing an end to illegal acts of corruption is a high priority forthe opposition coalition.

Solih pledged to draft a whistle-blower protection bill and send it for parliament approval, which, if passed, will provide security for state employees who voluntarily disclose information of misconducts and corruption carried out in state institutions.

Stressing on the fate of the Bank of Maldives (BML) employee who brought the embezzlement scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) into the spotlight, Solih said that the system will be amended in such a way that the same fate does not befall on anyone else.

The BML employee who disclosed information on the MMPRC embezzlement scandal is currently doing time for a prison sentence imposed on him related to the case.

The whistle-blower protection act is implemented across the globe in countries with the least amount of illegal activities of corruption going on inside government institutions.
