The Maldives National Defence Force has assisted a vessel that ran aground a reef near Biyadhoo island of Kaafu atoll.

The ‘Roadhi’ vessel collided into a reef to the west of the island, which is operated as a holiday resort. The Maldives National Defence Force said that the incident was reported at 01:30am on Tuesday.

The vessel’s crew had been safely brought to capital city Malé early Tuesday morning, from the resort.

The vessel, used for fishing, has sunk and authorities have asked sea travelers to be cautious of drifting parts of it.
