Mariyam Muna has been dismissed from the Employment Tribunal.

While the President has the authority to appoint and remove members from the Tribunal, Muna was dismissed on Sunday.

While there has not been any official word regarding Muna's dismissal, RaajjeMV understands that she was fired due to the government's 'dissatisfaction' with her.

A source close to Muna, a lawyer who asked to remain anonymous, told RaajjeMV that government officials were unhappy with Muna as she refused to conclude cases 'as told'.

"[Muna] had always received calls from the President's Office, telling her to conclude cases in a certain way. However, she continued to conclude them as she saw fit", said the source.

RaajjeMV was unable to obtain a comment from Muna at the time on publishing.

Appointed to the Employment Tribunal in August 2014, Muna has served the government since 1997. She filled many roles at the Ministry of Defence and National Security until 2012, including acting permanent secretary, assistant director, secretary and senior secretary.

She had also served as the director of operations at the Police Integrity Commission from 2012 to 2016.

Muna received her Masters in Business Administration in Australia's Edith Cowan University.
